In the Bible, it is written that God created man and woman to be companions for each other. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 states, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” Therefore, when a relationship ends, it is natural to feel a sense of loss and sadness.
Here are ten Biblical tips to mend a broken heart:
- Trust in God’s plan: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5
As we go through difficult times, including heartbreak, it can be helpful to remember this principle and to trust that God is in control, even when things feel uncertain or overwhelming. Trusting in God’s plan can be a source of comfort and hope during times of heartbreak. It can help us to see our experiences in a larger context and to recognize that there may be purpose or meaning behind our struggles. By trusting in God’s plan, we can find peace and reassurance that we are not alone and that our experiences are part of a larger journey of faith. - Take time to grieve: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4

Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” It is okay to feel sadness and pain. However, it is important to not dwell on negative thoughts and instead reframe them into positive ones. - Reframe negative thoughts: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” – Philippians 4:8

My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” – Psalm 28:7

Psalm 16:11 says, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” This can include spending time with loved ones, discovering new hobbies or interests, and exploring new opportunities. - Surround yourself with positive affirmations: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23.
It is essential to surround yourself with positive affirmations and to focus on self-care. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Take care of yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This can bring comfort and healing during a difficult time. - Express your emotions: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
When we experience heartbreak, it is common to feel overwhelmed by a range of emotions, including sadness, anger, and confusion. It is important to allow ourselves to feel these emotions and to express them in healthy ways. This may include journaling, talking to a trusted friend or family member, or engaging in creative activities like art or music. Additionally, expressing our emotions can help us feel more connected to God and to our own spiritual journey. When we bring our worries and concerns to God in prayer, we can experience a sense of peace and reassurance that we are not alone. - Avoid activities that remind of your ex: “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:18
When we experience heartbreak, it can be difficult to avoid activities or places that remind us of our ex-partner. This may include avoiding certain social events or locations where we spent time with our ex-partner, or avoiding activities or hobbies that we shared together. While it can be challenging to avoid these triggers, doing so can help us move on and heal more quickly. Avoiding activities that remind us of our ex-partner can help us avoid situations that may lead us to sin or compromise our values. - Have faith in God’s plan for your life: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
It is important to remember that everything happens for a reason. Romans 8:28 states, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Trust in God’s plan and have faith that everything will work out for the best.
